Dr. Shelat is currently an Attending Neurologist and Medical Director of the Division of Neurohospitalist Medicine at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, New York. He is also the Director of the Neurology Clinical Clerkship Program for 3rd and 4th year medical students at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He is board certified in neurology by both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. (ABPN) and the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP). He currently holds an appointment as Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). Dr. Shelat is currently a candidate for the Master of Science degree in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health.
In 1997 he completed his undergraduate studies at New York University and graduated cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa with Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and psychology with departmental honors. In 2002, he received his medical doctorate at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. Additionally, he holds a Master of Public Administration degree in Health Policy and Management from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University.
