Apply for Membership

Individuals who wish to become members of the HIT Lab are required to fill out a membership application stating the member category one would like to apply for. Member categories at the Lab are as follows:

 

Category Description
Fellow / Scholar Fellows are experts in an area of work within a practice setting. Similarly scholars are experts in an area of study within an academic setting. These individuals are recognized for their contribution to the development of a field or area of study. Typically fellows and scholars possess a terminal degree such as a PhD or an M.D.
Associate Member An Associate Member is typically someone with a Masters degree and some experience in healthcare or a related field. Young professionals with a Bachelors degree and experience in a healthcare setting are also included within this category.
Student Member A Student Member is currently in, or has recently completed full or part time education and is interested in improving the provision and outcomes of healthcare through the use of technology. Student members must show promise and commitment to innovative use of technology in healthcare.

The HIT Lab membership committee reviews applications once every month (25th of the month) and makes recommendations to the Board of Fellows to grant membership. Candidates are notified on the 7th of the following month with a decision. Unsuccessful candidates may re-apply after a period of 1 year if their application is significantly different from the previous one. Student members (if selected) will be required to submit supporting documentation such as degree proof, current school affiliation proof.
