Application For Membership
The Healthcare Innovation and Technology (HIT) Lab is a cross-disciplinary, academically based, independent, research institution located in the Audobon Biomedical Science and Technology Park in New York City, across the street from Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. The Lab comprises of faculty, staff, students, alumni of Columbia University and other universities in the NY region as well as members of the Washington Heights community, collaborating to improve human healthcare through thoughtfully designed and implemented technology.
A truly global organization, the Lab is involved in research projects located in five continents. It receives sponsorship from governments, companies and foundations around the world to support research in areas such as healthcare information technology, medical informatics and clinical practice.
The spectrum of grants that we work on, are a result of the diverse backgrounds, skills and interests of our staff members. From religion and anthropology to the pure sciences, our research findings are the result of the different lenses staff members bring with them.
A parallel mission of the HIT Lab is its commitment to helping each staff member achieve his or her professional goals; be it preparing for medical school, obtaining a graduate degree, being trained as a researcher, gaining better insight into the global provision of healthcare, the Lab has a history of serving as a 'launch pad' for several Columbia students and staff members who have moved on to fulfill their professional goals.
The HIT Lab offers membership to all individuals who share its mission of improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare through technological innovation. By becoming part of the HIT Lab community, members pledge to participate in a scientifically rigorous exploration of aiding healthcare access and improved quality of care to those who need it the most, the world over.
Apart from the opportunity to collaborate with the HIT Lab on corporate, foundation and federal grants member benefits include opportunities to co-author/ contribute to HIT Lab publications, networking opportunities, invitations to attend 'HIT Lab only' events such as innovation sessions, symposiums etc, a certificate confirming affiliation status and eligibility for HIT Lab recognition awards.
