David Memel; MD, MS, MBA


David Memel is the Managing Director of Klaipeda Health, a healthcare and life sciences advisory services company.

David brings over 25 years of leadership, innovation, and operating experience in multinational pharmaceutical, diagnostics, provider, and payer organizations. He also has advised start-up, mid-size, and global healthcare and life sciences organizations in the areas of innovation, healthcare analytics product and service development, and evidence-based strategies (including the use of real world evidence) for accelerating research, improving outcomes, and driving business value.

David has a command of the complexities of the evolving value-based healthcare landscape. He delivers holistic solutions by integrating business, medicine, science, and technology; and is recognized as a champion for improving population health, reducing the cost of care, and improving the patient experience. David has held a variety of commercial, medical, scientific, informatics, and technology leadership positions at companies including Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, LifeCare, Aetna, Roche Diagnostics, Roche Pharmaceuticals and PeaceHealth (a multi-state integrated healthcare delivery system).

In the course of his career, David has made significant contributions to development and commercialization of over 20 pharmaceutical and diagnostic products; led development and operationalization of a variety of healthcare and life sciences analytics, technology and evidence-based services and solutions; and built and led nearly a dozen organizations and high-performing teams that delivered new commercial and evidence-based capabilities, and incremental value to the business and customers.

David began his career as a Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist. He received his Bachelor of Science and Medical Degrees from the University of California at Los Angeles, his Master of Science in Health Informatics from the University of Utah, and his Master of Business Administration from Cornell University and Queen’s University in Canada. David also completed a fellowship in clinical effectiveness research at the Harvard School of Public Health.
