Director, Information Technology and Product Development
As Director of Information Technology and Product Development, Frank Fries plays both an internal and an external facing role at HITLAB. He steers internal IT projects, ensuring that IT services are in place to support HITLAB staff and initiatives. He also works with customers and vendors to guide projects and products through their full lifecycles (conception, development, release and maintenance).
Frank arrived at HITLAB with more than 20 years of IT experience. His background includes software development, network and system administration, project management, and IT management in Honolulu, New York, and Kenya.
Previously, Frank served as IT Director for an East Harlem, New York City non-profit where he managed the IT implementation of a new, 65,000 square foot building for a K-8 charter school. Prior to his work in East Harlem, he spent three years working to improve IT service operations for a large healthcare program in Western Kenya. Frank’s projects in Kenya included deploying a large-scale, wireless wide area network to link a number of health centers across the western region.
In his free time, Frank enjoys spending time with his dog Taifa, playing the guitar, and kicking a soccer ball. He also likes photography, reading, and being geeky with technology, electronics, and anything that includes an instruction manual.
