Dr. Steven J. Choi is a physician leader at the Montefiore Health System in New York. He serves as Assistant Vice President and Director of Montefiore Network Performance Improvement. He is also the Executive Director of the Montefiore Institute for Performance Improvement (MIPI). In this role, he is responsible for leading the health system’s transformation through clinical performance improvement strategies.
Dr. Choi has been practicing pediatric cardiac intensive care for over 10 years and has served as Division Chief as well as Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit prior to joining Montefiore in 2010. He holds board certifications in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. He has over 50 published abstracts, manuscripts, chapters, and presentations and has been a national leader and researcher in healthcare quality and performance improvement.
Dr. Choi is a graduate of the world-renowned Intermountain Healthcare-Advanced Training Program (ATP) for Healthcare Delivery Improvement in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Choi received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson/Rutgers University Medical School. He completed his pediatric internship and residency at Babies and Children’s Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and his pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles/University of Southern California.
