Meet with Hina (BOOKED)

Dr. Hina W. Chaudhry is a cardiologist, scientist, and entrepreneur. She is currently Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. She has won multiple awards in her field of cardiology including the American Heart Association’s Clinician-Scientist Award, an NIH Research Career Award, AstraZeneca’s Young Investigator Prize and was named TEDMED Innovation Scholar 2013. She was selected for the ‘Genius’ Edition of Esquire Magazine, won Best Manuscript Award from the American Heart Association, and the SitaraImtiaz Medal from the Government of Pakistan. She is a Principal Scientist and Award holder of the New York State Stem Cell Board. In addition to her academic career, she is also Founder, Chief Scientific Officer, and Chairman of the Board of VentriNova, a privately-held biotech company based on her patent portfolio that is developing novel clinical treatments for cardiac regeneration. VentriNova is venture-backed by Broadview Ventures and is now in late-stage negotiations for a Series A financing with several blue-chip VCs.

Dr. Aparna (Amy) Divaraniya is the co-founder and CEO of OOVA, a fertility diagnostic company that brings the accuracy of a clinic into a woman’s home. After personally having trouble getting pregnant, Amy experienced first-hand the limited number of options available to women who were trying to conceive. This created a deep-rooted passion in Amy to change women’s healthcare for the better. Amy’s primary goal with OOVA is to provide women with accurate information about their body and to empower them to take control of their health. Prior to founding OOVA, Amy earned her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Mount Sinai Hospital. She has more than a decade of experience as a bioinformatics scientist in both academia and industry and has led projects in the areas of molecular network analysis, personal genomics, and biomarker discovery.

Sallie Jian runs SAP.iO Foundry New York, an accelerator devoted to women and diverse-founded B2B enterprise SaaS startups. SAP.iO is the corporate venture arm of SAP, the largest enterprise software company in the world. Prior to SAP, Sallie was Vice President at SeedInvest where she led the firm’s Venture Capital team and served as CFO and Head of Business Development at Savile Row Society, a men’s e-commerce startup, where she led firm initiatives around financing, revenue generation, customer acquisition, and business development. Sallie began her career in financial services at Morgan Stanley Technology Investment Banking in Silicon Valley and General Atlantic in NYC. She graduated from the Haas Business Program at UC Berkeley and has been recognized as an emerging technology leader in Venture Capital as a 2018 Innovators & Disruptors Award recipient. She is a frequent public speaker and has been invited to speak at AdWeek Conference, SOS, LAUNCH, 1776, Empress Insights, Retail X Series, Brunchwork, Women's Alternative Investment Summit, Fordham Women in Tech, VC Summit, Cornell Johnson Women in Tech, Columbia Business School VC Panel, and more.

Vanessa Liu HITLAB

VP of SAP.iO, SAP

Meet with Vanessa (BOOKED)

Vanessa is the VP of SAP.iO, a global organization responsible for building an ecosystem of startups around SAP. In her role, she is overseeing SAP.iO’s North American Foundries in New York and San Francisco, including programs devoted to women and diverse-led B2B enterprise tech companies. Vanessa was most recently the Chief Operating Officer at Trigger Media Group, a $22MM digital media incubator. In her role, she co-founded, incubated and oversaw business operations and strategic initiatives of Trigger’s portfolio companies: InsideHook and Fevo.  She now serves as a board observer of Fevo and is an advisor or investor in start-ups including Bounce Exchange, Grata Data, GroundSignal, Knotel and Narrativ. She mentors female founders through the Monarq Incubator and Parity Partners' Parity Program.Previously, Vanessa was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company’s Media and Entertainment Practice.

Meet with Jack (BOOKED)

Jack focuses on sourcing and evaluating health tech startups, assisting with content marketing, and creating opportunities for Dreamit to engage with the startup ecosystem in New York City and beyond. He also works on identifying and executing other promising digital marketing initiatives for Dreamit. Before joining Dreamit, Jack worked at Bombas, a mission-driven, high-end apparel startup. Jack gained marketing experience through previous internships at companies like Dreamit and Wildbit. He co-authored and successfully marketed "The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Finding Your First Customers," a book that helps early-stage founders identify product opportunities and acquire the initial customers for their companies. Jack graduated cum laude from Haverford College with a BA in Psychology.

Meet with Ethan (BOOKED)

Ethan is responsible for spearheading operations of the HealthTech vertical and works alongside the HealthTech Managing Director to accelerate companies. As Program Manager, Ethan also aids in the implementation of curriculum, maintaining advisor/mentor relationships, and connecting startups with the Dreamit network of industry experts, corporate partners, program Alumni, and potential customers. Prior to Dreamit, Ethan was a co-founder of a mobile application and worked at Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Biology and a BA in Spanish.

Meet with Lena & Emilie (BOOKED)

Lena is a Director in the Corporate Strategy Office for Merck & Company. In this role, she leads and drives transformational enterprise initiatives in support of the overall company strategy. Prior to joining the Corporate Strategy Office, Lena was a Director in the Animal Health Division as part of the Animal Health Ventures team. She was responsible for setting the investment strategy and making investments in digital start-ups. Lena started her career in the strategy practice of Deloitte Consulting where she spent several years developing growth strategies for Fortune 500 clients. She holds a Master of Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Meet with Emilie & Lena (BOOKED)

Emilie is an associate director in the Center for Observational and Real World Evidence at Merck & Company. She leads outcomes research for skin cancers and is currently engaged on a number of real world evidence studies in melanoma. Prior to this role, Emilie was working in London as part of the UK affiliate, where she managed a team in health technology assessment and outcomes research. Previous to Merck, she worked for Amgen in Global Health Economics. Emilie holds a Masters in Health Economics from London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California.

Meet with Prem (BOOKED)

Prem is a Managing Director at the Merck Global Health Innovation Fund responsible for identifying and cultivating opportunities across digital health and health information technology with a current focus on oncology, real world evidence, clinical trials, and emerging health fields. He serves on the boards of Strata Oncology (precision oncology through NGS), Ayogo Health (patient behavior change), Antidote Technologies (clinical trials matching), and Clinithink (clinical NLP). He has 10+ years of experience in corporate strategy, growth strategy and financial advisory across the healthcare sector. Prior to joining GHI, Prem co-led the Life Sciences Mergers and Acquisitions platform and the Growth & Innovation Capital Practice at Accenture Strategy. Prior to Accenture, Prem worked in healthcare investment banking at Credit Suisse. Prem holds an MBA from Yale University and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania.
