Founded in 651, Hotel-Dieu, located on Ile de la Cite at the foot of Notre-Dame de Paris, is Europe’s oldest continuously operating hospital. In 2016, AP-HP launched the New Hotel-Dieu project, aiming to open the hospital to the city and focus on the future of medicine.
Today, Hotel-Dieu is deploying an innovative medical project centered on new patient care models and multidisciplinary research at the crossroads of medical sciences, humanities, and social sciences. It builds on its history and expertise in vulnerable patients, prevention, and public health.
Since 2021, the Hotel-Dieu initiative, supported by the newly opened BioLabs incubator, has created a unique space for collaboration between healthcare professionals, researchers, and innovators.
In 2023, Hotel-Dieu became home to the first BioLabs international incubation space in France, with 1,500 m2 of offices and labs hosting 30 biotech, medtech, and healthtech startups. By 2030, 10,000 m2 will accommodate around 100 startups as part of the hospital’s transformation.
Hotel-Dieu offers a unique environment where innovators can connect with the realities of medical care and collaborate with caregivers and patients to develop the future of healthcare solutions.
