ABOUT

The Federal Health Innovation Workshop at the HITLAB Spring 2026 Innovators Summit convenes federal leaders and innovators to explore how breakthrough healthcare solutions can be developed, validated, and scaled through public sector collaboration.

This workshop highlights the next wave of healthcare innovation, with a focus on exponential impact through public-private partnerships, featuring insights from Stephen Konya of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how federal agencies are driving innovation strategy and partnering with industry to accelerate real-world implementation.

Sessions also explore pathways beyond traditional funding mechanisms, including how the National Institutes of Health—through its National Cancer Institute Technology Transfer Center—supports technology development and commercialization. Led by Dr. Joseph Conrad, this discussion provides practical guidance on leveraging federal resources as a long-term innovation partner.

The workshop further examines scalable care delivery models, including large-scale telehealth solutions improving access in rural and underserved communities. Andy Andrew from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs shares frontline insights into implementing tele-emergency medicine at scale.

Designed for startups, researchers, and healthcare leaders, FHW offers actionable perspectives on navigating federal systems, building strategic partnerships, and advancing innovations that improve population health outcomes nationwide.
