HITLAB Partners with MindStreet, Inc. to Spotlight Digital CBT Evidence to Deliver Clinician-grade Mental Health Care at Population Scale
Partnership aims to demonstrate how clinically validated digital therapeutics can augment and leverage scarce clinician resources for payers, providers, health systems, pharma manufacturers, and employers, as mental health care demand far outpaces clinician capacity
NEW YORK, NY – September 14, 2026. HITLAB, the health innovation and technology organization, today announced a strategic partnership with MindStreet, Inc., a digital mental health company founded by the pioneers of computer-assisted cognitive behavioral therapy (CCBT), to help address the mental health crisis. The collaboration aims to position MindStreet’s clinically validated digital therapeutics programs as a credible adjunctive treatment for pharmaceutical companies, health systems, payers, providers, and employers seeking scalable, clinical-grade solutions that leverage scarce clinician resources to expand care, reduce costs, and improve outcomes.
Mental health conditions cost nations over $1 trillion annually in lost productivity. Over 50 million U.S. adults are impacted by a mental health condition each year. Despite over $300 billion in annual spending, severe clinician shortages, high costs, and social stigma leave 75% of U.S. patient demand unmet, with a majority of diagnosed cases remaining untreated. Anxiety (42 million) and depression (22 million) are the most common mental illnesses affecting US adults. Even with access to care, one-third of patients suffer from treatment-resistant depression (TRD), unable to find relief even after trying multiple drugs, leading to repeat hospitalizations, emergency room visits, and increased costs. As patients face months-long waitlists, suicide risk and functional impairments escalate, underscoring the urgent need for effective, affordable, and scalable solutions to address the mental health crisis.
MindStreet’s proprietary CCBT platform is based on the pioneering work by Dr. Jesse H. Wright, MD, PhD, Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the University of Louisville Depression Center, and Dr. Michael E. Thase, MD, Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Treatment and Research Program at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine. The platform, which consists of a patient app and an accompanying clinician portal, uses proprietary clinician-led digital content, assessments, exercises, engagement tools, and monitoring tools to deliver protocol-compliant CBT asynchronously, systematically, and efficiently at scale. Built on a common technology and clinical architecture, the platform spans two delivery modes. Resilim™ (Resilient Minds) is a provider-supervised adjunctive digital CBT platform to reduce clinician burden, extend capacity, improve adherence and outcomes. In multiple randomized controlled trials, Resilim™ D (for depression) produced reductions in depression symptom severity comparable to traditional therapist-delivered CBT at a fraction of the clinician time and cost. GDA™ (Good Days Ahead) is MindStreet’s 360-degree population mental health program designed to fill gaps in existing EAP/Wellness and healthcare benefits. Leveraging a proprietary “find-feed-foster” model, GDA helps employers identify those in need, guide them through care options based on condition severity and risk, improve outcomes, reduce claims, minimize risk, and build safe and productive workplaces so individuals do not suffer in silence.
Across 10 peer-reviewed clinical trials between 2005 and 2026, spanning varied populations and medical presentations, Resilim™ D completion rates have ranged from 79% to 82%, unusually high in a category where dropout rates are common. The digital therapeutic gives clinicians real-time visibility into patient engagement, addressing some of the most persistent adoption barriers in digital health, namely adherence, trust, and outcomes. This evidence base should support mainstreaming the use of validated digital therapeutics to address the growing supply-demand gap in mental health care. While digital apps and AI chatbots are increasingly used for self-diagnosis and condition management, they are often abandoned and fraught with safety concerns. Pharma manufacturers, payers, providers, employers, and health systems want solutions that improve treatment adherence, reduce relapse rates, improve outcomes, and generate verifiable real-world evidence.
“Digital therapeutics don’t struggle for lack of good science; they struggle for lack of the right framing and context that clinical and commercial audiences seek,” said Dr. Stan Kachnowski, Chair of HITLAB. “MindStreet has more than two decades of strong clinical evidence. Our job is to help translate this evidence into widespread acceptance, because treatments that work only help patients once they’re actually deployed.”
“We’ve spent years proving that digital CBT gives patients outcomes similar to 1:1 therapy, in a fraction of the time and cost, thereby reducing provider burden and expanding capacity,” said Dr. Brian Mayhugh, CEO of MindStreet. “The patient who is suffering in silence, on a months-long waitlist to access specialist care, is exactly who we built MindStreet for. We are on a mission to make mental health care immediately accessible, universally affordable, and completely stigma-free.”
HITLAB’s role in this partnership is to help MindStreet meet the market need for clinically validated, scalable mental health solutions. This includes a thorough review of the evidence, corroborating and validating its claims against the clinical and economic literature, sharpening the evidence narrative, identifying gaps, and building the credibility and implementation readiness that pharma, payers, providers, health systems, and employers require before they commit. Through the partnership, HITLAB will work with MindStreet across three fronts:
- Evidence Review and Validation. Audit MindStreet’s clinical and economic evidence against the published literature and assemble it into a dossier designed to withstand scrutiny from pharma, payers, health systems, and employers.
- Healthcare Expert Validation. Secure clinician and expert commentary through HITLAB’s seminar and content channels, including its Breakthrough Tech and Thinking AI events.
- Implementation Readiness and Scaling. Build the collateral MindStreet needs to credibly explore conversations with pharma, payer, health system, and employer decision-makers.
The first reports of the evidence package are expected in Q42026, with conversations with sector participants and events to follow.
