HITLAB and MiraWell Partner to Build the Evidence Base for a New Approach to Pain and Stress Care

Evaluation of MiraWell’s XR and biofeedback platform will lay the groundwork for clinical validation

NEW YORK, NY — October 2, 2026 — HITLAB, a health innovation and technology research organization, today announced a partnership with MiraWell to evaluate its digital therapeutic platform. MiraWell combines biofeedback, immersive extended reality (XR) therapy, and real-time physiological data. Together the two organizations will build the clinical evidence needed to bring the platform into routine care for pain and stress-related conditions.

Pain and stress-related conditions are often treated reactively, and medication is frequently the first line of care. MiraWell was built to intervene earlier and more actively. The platform uses a patient’s own physiological signals to guide immersive therapy in real time, helping patients learn to regulate their response to pain and stress. It was founded by pediatricians to address gaps in care for young patients, for whom non-drug options are especially important.

The partnership comes as demand for non-pharmacological approaches to pain and stress grows. XR and biofeedback are moving from novelty to clinical tool faster than the evidence behind them. Clinicians, payers, and investors increasingly want proof of outcomes before they change practice or commit funding. HITLAB and MiraWell aim to establish that evidence before the platform scales.

“Digital therapeutics succeed or fail on evidence, not on how compelling the technology sounds,” said Dr. Stan Kachnowski, Chair of HITLAB. “MiraWell is taking a distinctive approach to pain and stress. Our role is to evaluate it rigorously and generate the evidence clinicians, payers, and families need to make informed decisions.”

“We built MiraWell to move care from passive treatment to active intervention, especially for children, who have too few options,” said Georgia Mitsi, Founder and CEO of MiraWell. “Working with HITLAB gives us a rigorous, credible path to showing what this platform can do for patients.”
