The Growing Burden of Pediatric Pain and
Anxiety
Pediatric pain and anxiety remain substantial clinical challenges across oncology, surgery, chronic disease management, and supportive care. Children may experience repeated painful procedures, prolonged treatment journeys, and treatment-related psychological stress, while existing approaches often rely on pharmacologic interventions and subjective symptom reporting.
Scalable, engaging, non-pharmacologic solutions that support self-regulation and integrate efficiently into clinical workflows remain limited. Mirawell Health addresses this gap through an immersive pediatric platform combining guided breathing, physiological biofeedback, and interactive virtual reality to support pain, anxiety, and stress management.
Clinical Evidence and Validation
The evidence reviewed provides a credible foundation for Mirawell Health’s continued clinical development. Feasibility and pilot randomized studies demonstrated strong recruitment, retention, adherence, and patient and caregiver acceptability, with no serious adverse events reported. The short-term improvements in pain intensity, pain unpleasantness, and anxiety, while protocol-development research supported repeated physiological self-regulation training. Early evidence indicates strong patient engagement, favorable usability, and growing clinical interest in biofeedback-enabled approaches that promote self-regulation and skill development rather than passive distraction alone…
