Clinical Need & Platform
Gastrointestinal disease represents a significant and growing healthcare burden, driven by high symptom prevalence, substantial healthcare utilization, delayed recognition of disease progression, and persistent barriers to screening participation.
Current assessment often relies on episodic encounters and patient recall, creating an opportunity for more continuous and accessible approaches to digestive-health monitoring. Faex Health is a smartphone-based digestive-health platform designed to transform routine gastrointestinal observations into structured longitudinal insights.
Through Faex Scan, users can capture stool images, log symptoms and contextual factors, track trends over time, and receive AI-
supported summaries, while Faex MD enables secure, consent-based access for professional review. The platform is positioned to support digestive-health awareness, engagement, and monitoring without replacing established screening methods, diagnostic procedures, physician assessment, or clinical judgment. Faex addresses the engagement gap before and between established screening events by supporting longitudinal digestive-health awareness and appropriate follow-up.
Evidence & Value
Published literature provides support for longitudinal symptom monitoring, digital data capture, and AI-assisted evaluation of selected visible stool characteristics. Building on this foundation, Faex Health is generating platform-specific evidence through the ongoing FECAL-AI sub-study in Chile, which is evaluating associations between Faex outputs, quantitative FIT results, colonoscopy findings, colorectal neoplasia, and pathology outcomes when available. A separate GI-bleeding validation study has also been proposed to assess longitudinal stool-image observations against clinically adjudicated bleeding events.
The platform integrates consumer monitoring, clinician review, and organizational deployment within a connected ecosystem. Multiple commercialization pathways, including PEPM, PMPM, marketplace, referral, and subscription models, support potential implementation across healthcare providers, employers, health plans, research organizations, and public-health programs.
As a unified point solution, Faex connects monitoring, contextual insights, education, and scalable deployment within one gut-health platform….
