Bridging the Gap in Women’s Health: A Focus on Innovation

Amy West • March 6, 2025

Women represent 51% of the global population, yet there remains a significant gap in healthcare tailored to their needs.

Women’s health issues, from reproductive care to chronic disease, have often been sidelined, resulting in disparities in access and outcomes. While digital health tools have begun to address some of these gaps, much more needs to be done to ensure women receive the attention and care they deserve.

As Chair of HITLAB’s Women’s Health Tech Initiative, I am proud to be part of an effort that amplifies attention on women’s health challenges and promotes the development of innovative solutions.

A great example is FemTherapeutics, which is working to bring targeted treatments for pelvic health disorders to market faster.  FemTherapeutics was founded with a singular mission – to redesign the one-size-fits-all approach to women’s health and restore gender equality in medical innovation

Through initiatives like this, HTLAB is fostering partnerships and supporting technologies tha t focus on improving women’s health. Progress is being made, but continued focus will ensure lasting, equitable change in healthcare.
