BTA Spotlight

Divya Verma

In the fast-moving world of healthcare, leaders like Divya Verma are showing how innovation, empathy, and collaboration can come together to create a healthier future. As Vice President of Business Development at Accord, Divya has dedicated her career to bridging the gap between life-changing therapies and the patients who need them most.

We sat down with Divya to learn more about her work, her vision for the healthcare ecosystem, and what inspired her to join HITLAB’s Global Breakthrough Alliance (BTA)—one of HITLAB’s Centers of Excellence.

Q: Tell us about your role at Accord and your journey in healthcare.

Divya Verma: “My role at Accord is all about finding the intersection between innovation and impact. I lead Business Development, which means I’m constantly assessing market needs, identifying opportunities to bring new therapies to patients, and ensuring we communicate their value effectively.

Healthcare has always been deeply personal for me. I’ve seen firsthand how access to care—or lack of it—can shape people’s lives. That experience fuels my passion for building strategies that make innovation not just possible, but practical for those who need it.”

Q: What’s your perspective on the current healthcare ecosystem?

Divya Verma: “We’re at a critical point. There’s so much incredible technology emerging—digital health tools, AI, next-gen therapies—but the challenge is integration. Innovation is only powerful if patients can access it, providers can use it, and payers can support it.

That’s why collaboration is essential. We need pharma, startups, payers, and health systems at the same table, working toward solutions that create equity and impact across geographies.”

Q: How do you see digital health shaping the future of care?

Divya Verma: “Digital health is one of the most transformative forces in healthcare today. From remote monitoring to predictive analytics, it has the power to make care more proactive, personalized, and accessible. But with that potential comes responsibility—we need to ensure these tools are evidence-based, user-friendly for providers, and equitable for patients across diverse populations.

Ultimately, digital health should not just be about technology—it should be about creating better experiences and outcomes for patients.”

Q: Why did you decide to join HITLAB’s Breakthrough Alliance?

Divya Verma: “The BTA is unique because it’s not just a networking group—it’s a think tank and action hub. I wanted to be part of a community where ideas don’t just stay ideas, but turn into scalable solutions.

HITLAB’s focus on evidence-based innovation resonated with me. Joining BTA gives me the opportunity to support entrepreneurs, influence decision-making, and collaborate globally to solve healthcare’s biggest challenges.”

Q: What are you most excited about contributing as a BTA member?

Divya Verma: “I’m passionate about helping startups and innovators understand the market landscape and scale responsibly. There’s so much potential in this community to accelerate change, and I’m excited to lend my expertise to initiatives that prioritize patient outcomes, affordability, and access.”

Q: Looking ahead, what’s your 5–10-year vision for your work and the healthcare industry?

Divya Verma: “In the next decade, I’d like to see healthcare evolve into a truly connected ecosystem—one where therapies, digital tools, and services are seamlessly integrated and accessible across geographies. Personally, I hope to continue shaping strategies that make innovation both scalable and equitable. My goal is to help build systems that don’t just deliver treatments, but deliver lasting improvements in health equity and patient well-being worldwide.”

We’re thrilled to welcome Divya Verma to the Global Breakthrough Alliance. Her experience, leadership, and commitment to building a patient-first future will help drive the innovation healthcare needs today.
